What is Nurturework?

The roots of Nurturework evolved from traditional Swedish and Esalen massage. It’s limbs grew out of Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Reiki and various Pressure Point techniques and we could say the leaves and flowers are of Aromatherapy. As the name implies a Nurturework session revolves around nurturing, deeply relaxing massage that helps to relieve stress and promote a sense of well being.

Techniques of massage

Every massage practitioner takes the experiences of every body they've worked on and coalesces those experiences into what becomes their individual style of massage. I first became interested in massage as a Theatre student at Temple University in Philadelphia while in voice class. The professor would have us massage one another's shoulders, necks and heads as we practiced our vocal exercises. I then took 2 massage classes. Within a few years I had 3 different certifications and bought the massage table that I still use today. (a 1985 Golden Ratio Master Bodyworker) Education in massage never ends, I've studied Esalen, Swedish, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Reiki and many other techniques in the 20 plus years since that first voice class.

My hands are strong, yet my massage work is very intuitive. I have traded with many massage therapists over the years and I have always had better results in the hands of a practitioner who had better intuition, than one who has had extensive education or technical skills but lacked "the touch".

Home spas, and relaxation spa treatments, are becoming more popular every day. With Nurturework I try, in my small way, to fulfill that trend with top quality service.
